**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Invasive Cardio (IC) procedure tech performs duties necessary for interventional special procedures at a technical and professional level requiring minimal supervision of technical detail. They will perform a variety of technical procedures that will require responsible independent judgement. Assumes responsibility and initiative for designated areas and procedures as required. Responsible for performing specialized technologist roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting. Operates specific high technology equipment and utilizes products under the direction of a qualified physician to assist with procedures performed on patients who lead to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart and peripheral vascular disease. Recognizes the purpose of prioritizing the patient as number one to align performance with the organizations values and goals to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction and to put forth the utmost quality as a IC Procedure tech.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Assist the attending physician in the technical performance of electrophysiology or interventional cardiology procedures which include: Sterile instruments, catheters, devices and supplies are set up correctly for each procedure, maintenance of good aseptic technique is always practiced, The specific function and requirements for the proper use of all diagnostic and interventional equipment are understood and demonstrated in practice, Proper functioning of all advanced lab ancillary equipment and any novel invasive based equipment is appropriately maintained, Assistance with supply inventory management is performed as directed and collaborating with team members is provided to efficiently turn over procedure rooms and enhance overall patient throughput is.
+ Organizes and prioritizes procedural care activities considering the needs of the physician, the patient and the procedure being performed.
+ Supports image acquisition, image processing and physiologic/hemodynamic data acquisition during invasive procedures.
+ Collaborates with the physician and clinical support team to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the care being delivered and the progress made toward the desired clinical outcomes.
+ Provides for a safe environment of care.
+ Assumes responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others.
+ Demonstrates leadership in the delivery and support of program initiatives/enhancements.
+ Provides appropriate care to patients consistent with level of training.
+ Communicates appropriately using good interpersonal skills.
+ Serves, manages and supports internal and external customers.
+ Participates in performance improvement activities.
+ Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
+ Only ARRT registered radiologic technologists are able to operate fluoroscopy equipment .

**Licensing/Certification**
BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)
ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support- American Heart Association (preferred)
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification (Cath Lab) (preferred)
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification (EP Lab) (preferred)
ARRT (only if Radiologic Technologist trained)
If radiologic technologist State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
For Electrophysiology: International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Allied Professional Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Certification (preferred)
**Education**
Graduate of an accredited formal medical education program such as CVT EMT Paramedic, Radiography Respiratory Therapy Exercise Science or similar field or Associate’s Degree in a Health Sciences related field. (required)
Associate degree or greater in Cardiovascular Technology or associate, baccalaureate degree or greater in a health sciences (preferred)
**Work Experience**
1 year of clinical patient care experience (preferred)
**Training**
EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
Picture archival communication systems (PACS) (preferred)
