Inventory Control Assistant

Purpose Statement

This position will support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of stock levels, ensuring system reflects actual quantity on hand, Monitor and track inventory movements, including receiving, shipping, transfers and adjustments, Perform regular inventory audits to ensure stock is accounted for and discrepancies are addressed promptly, and Organize and label products to ensure easy identification and efficient stock retrieval.  Shipping and Receiving: Receive incoming shipments, verify product quality and quantity, and ensure they meet company standards, Inspect goods for damage or defects upon arrival and report any issues to the appropriate department , Prepare, pack and label outgoing shipments for delivery, Ensure that shipments are dispatched on time and accurately, coordinating with the shipping carriers and internal teams. Inventory Tracking and Documentation: Accurately log all inventory transactions (receipts, shipments, stock adjustments) into the inventory management system, Generate inventory reports and track key performance metrics such as order accuracy, inventory turns, and shipping accuracy, Maintain clear and organized documentation for all inventory and shipping related activities. Stock Organization: Ensure that inventory is properly stored and maintained to avoid damage and facilitate easy access, Follow proper handling procedures for different types of goods, including hazardous materials, temperature-sensitive items, or fragile products, Rotate stock to ensure older products are used first (FIFO method). Coordination and Communication: Work closely with purchasing, sales, and warehouse teams to ensure inventory and shipment needs are met, Notify relevant teams of stock discrepancies, low inventory levels or shipping delays, Provide excellent customer service to internal departments and external clients regarding product availability and order statuses.  Quality Control: Perform routine quality checks to ensure the accuracy and quality of both incoming and outgoing shipments, Ensure that all products are properly labeled, packaged and meet company standards before leaving the facility.  Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storing and shipping products, Follow regulatory guidelines, including those related to hazardous materials or shipping restrictions.  Knowledge, Skills, and Experience HS/GED required. (Some positions may require additional certifications) Previous experience in inventory control, shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred Knowledge of inventory management software or systems Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Detail oriented with focus on accuracy Basic computer skills and proficiency with spreadsheets Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks (e.g., standing, bending, lifting) Forklift certification may be required depending on the position.  Efficient with all Microsoft Office products.  Experience using QAD, SAP, and Outlook a plus.
