What does it mean to be a part of the Inventory Control team?
Our Inventory team is responsible for tracking all inventory within our distribution centers. This includes maintaining accurate records and researching any discrepancies with the product. It is imperative to understand the layout of the warehouse to ensure the proper location of the product. Researching any damages/adjustments of product, tracking expiration dates, and alert management of any potential safety concerns that may arise. Within this department, you will ensure proper handling of damaged and/or spoiled merchandise, pulling and processing salvaged product, review and analyze inventory reports to identify trends, and work directly with various departments and local operations leadership to provide recommendations.
PURPOSE:
Responsible for tracking inventory and maintaining accurate inventory records and able to research any discrepancies. Display a strong understanding of the equipment he/she uses, the location of product, and the lay-out of the warehouse, slot location, lost sales, mis picks, pack size and all other applicable product information.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conducts review and appropriate research to verify if a credit is valid and provide disposition back to customer experience
• Collaborate with customer experience team on credit inquiries and other requests
• Leverage reporting to identify customer trends and provide guidance to ops and stakeholder leaders
• Perform shipping and receiving audits on-site and in retail stores as required
• Partners with local inventory control to review and process adjustments as needed
• Make accurate inventory adjustments in the system
• Review and process penalty box items, identify trends and make recommendations to Operations leaders regarding potential coaching or training opportunities
• Reviews and actions daily reports
• Collaborates with all stakeholders including but not limited to procurement, operations, customer care, inventory control on inventory concerns
• Reconcile store returns and make necessary adjustments within the inventory system
• Prepare returns for pickup, verifying items and case counts
• Reviews and develops inventory control standard operating procedures as appropriate
• Identify and resolve all internal shrink concerns
• Acts as an inventory lead as needed in partnership with leadership
• Sign and date all pick up documents and return to inventory control for record keeping
• Maintain record retention program in compliance with guidelines and policies
• Update home slot quantities when removing product from the home slot
• Monitor all outside/offsite storage inventory
• Analyze and monitor velocity reports and seasonal promotions to ensure product is available for sale onsite
• Direct operations and offsite storage providers on inventory to pull and pick up
• Ensure proper rotation of product in outside storage and onsite/in house storage
• Manage Inventory Control projects that drive improvement of operations processes and/or other UNFI business area processes
• Performs other relevant job duties as required
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/ Certifications: (Required/Preferred-list requirement is required or preferred)
• High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
• Capability of being licensed in operating powered industrial equipment.

Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
