Under moderate supervision, the Inventory Control Planner is responsible for scheduling and conducting cycle counts to ensure compliance with inventory control procedures. This position assists in minimizing inventory discrepancies, including overages and shortages, while supporting production by ensuring that parts, kits, and materials are properly delivered, received, and documented in a timely manner.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory control processes to support company financial objectives and enhance customer satisfaction. The role involves reviewing and performing inventory cycle-counts to verify the accuracy of shipped and received goods, monitoring variances and discrepancies, and recommending solutions to resolve inventory-related issues.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Schedules monthly cycle counts Print count sheets daily for individual department counters Reviews daily cycle counts results and submits variance detail reports to the Materials Manager to maintain inventory record accuracy. Understands and supports procedures for maintaining inventory accuracy. Works to ensure all transactional integrity of all inventory transactions. Assigns locations to new items. Works closely with the Shipping and Receiving Team as well as Production, Purchasing, Engineering and Sales/Parts Team. Advises employees on the care and preservation of items received, stored and shipped; on methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock and related problems.Manage approximately $10 million of inventory to ensure the goal of maintaining cycle count variance goals is achieved.
Manage inventory cycle count program to ensure that optimum customer satisfaction is achieved by minimizing out-of-stock situations.
Oversee and help to perform detailed and precise cycle counts of all locations in accordance with established guidelines to determine inventory accuracy and report findings to appropriate personnel.
Ensure inventory items are counted according to the Cycle Count Program following the ABC stratification.
Investigate inventory problems and potential inventory problems upon request from Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, etc. and analyze problems to determine root causes. Make recommendations for corrective action.
Review and approve all cycle counts for validity prior to adjustments in system. Ensure that recounts are performed when required.
Perform monthly unit counts of whole goods with the manufacturing team at month end, working with management and individual team members to resolve any inventory issues.
Act as lead point of contact for internal and external auditors involving cycle count and the reconciliation process.
Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor.
