The Inventory Controller coordinates the flow of raw material to and from the production floor and the receipt of finished goods into inventory. Works as a liaison between Planning, Purchasing and Production to ensure inventory accuracy and availability. Maintains inventory accuracy in shop floor raw material and finished goods and supports Production & Planning in the accuracy of sub-assembly WIP.

Job Description

The Inventory Controller coordinates the flow of raw material to and from the production floor and the receipt of finished goods into inventory.   Works as a liaison between Planning, Purchasing and Production to ensure inventory accuracy and availability.  Maintains inventory accuracy in shop floor raw material and finished goods and supports Production & Planning in the accuracy of sub-assembly WIP.

Duties:

Leads daily & weekly cycle counts of shop floor, Kanban and finished goods inventory.Support and maintain back-up for Inventory Analysts cycle counting processes.Coordinates with Planning, Production and Stores the flow of material requirements to the production floor. Tracks and expedites production material shortages between purchasing, receiving and supply to production floor.Coordinates with Planning and Production to organize WIP sub-assembly inventories and discrepancy reconciliation.Works with Production to set up and clearly identify and maintain proper raw material Shop Floor locations, Kanban and sub assembly supermarket locations.  Ensures proper maintenance and assignment of these locations.Works with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure Kanban circuits are optimized for Production while maintaining lean inventory practices.Works with Planning and Production to ensure lean shop floor inventory and just in time practices are utilized for material supply.In conjunction with Manager, Inventory & Logistics, participates and assists in the development and execution of a complete, yearly physical inventory count if required by Financial Auditors.Participates in the development and execution of a Warehouse Reorganization project to better utilize existing space and improve the overall efficiency of material flow. Work with Inventory Analyst and Planning functions to develop and maintain a plan for dealing with old and redundant inventory. Works with Finance and Planning to make inventory adjustments when necessary.  Provides backup documentation to support any adjustments.In conjunction with Production Support and Planning participates in line changes and closures, counting and adjusting shop floor material and WIP as required. Supports Warehouse Floaters in preparation of Production completion and changeover to new builds. Assists Production Support and Planning in the accuracy of information in the ERP system.  Performs system testing and participate in problem solving to ensure data integrity.Any other duties as required by the company.

Required Skills:

3 years of experience in Inventory Management or equivalent in a Manufacturing EnvironmentExperience in Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software.Strong written and verbal communication skillsCompetent in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel knowledge.Strong problem solving and analytical skills.The successful person must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.Ability to adapt and deliver in a past paced and constantly changing environment.Balance changing priorities and demanding workflow.Support and demonstrate safe work practices and a healthy work environment.Excited about our products, their structure and complexity and have a willingness to always learn. Have a desire to seek opportunities to understand our manufacturing processes and material and be part of Continuous Improvement teams.
