Inventory Controller Claims Specialist

Position Title:  Inventory Controller

Supervisor:     Inventory Control Manager

 

FLSA:              Non-Exempt

 

 

Position Summary:

Works closely with Inventory Control Manager, Warehouse Teams, and Branch Managers to ensure efficient and accurate operations in Warehouse/Branch Inventory and Receiving Departments. Maintains a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly and efficient customer service. Supports the Inventory Control Manager in maintaining company standards. Position is located in the Corporate Office and involves teamwork among Inventory Controllers.

 

Essential Functions:

Maintains the accuracy of the physical inventory at the branch and warehouses.Uses data and communication to identify inventory errors and makes corrections.Makes decisions on claims using On-Base system.Holds branches and warehouses accountable to provide necessary information to make educated decisions.Reviews sales price differential report to determine if front end pricing is accurate and makes the appropriate changes.Trains all warehouses and branches for inventory purposes and is responsible for the preparation and conducting of semi-annual inventories.Reports shrink and research causes.Controls markdowns & voids by monitoring damages and overstock.Reviews and manages stock in Warehouses over 90 days.Reviews and manages any products less than 3 pallets in warehouses.Analyzes and determines reasons for negative inventory and margins.Reviews store statistical reports for any abnormal or erroneous data.

 

Other Responsibilities:

Assists other Corporate Departments when needed Performs various tasks and projects as directed by Inventory Control Manager and Corporate Headquarters.

 

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

Minimum 4 years experience in retail or wholesale.Background in Physical Inventory maintenance/control.Proven leadership skills; ability to supervise and direct employees.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, vendors, customers and buying department.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass and volume.Effective oral and written communication skills.Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.Must be PC literate; working knowledge of MS Office; 10-key skills a big plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

Posture Tolerance (rated based on frequency or time involved)Stand/walk – for up to 4 hours at a time, during full inventory must stand for up to 6 hours at a time.Reach above shoulder level – occasionallyTwist/turn head – frequentlyBend over/stoop – frequentlyClimb steps/ladder – occasionallyKneel/squat - occasionally

 

Work Environment:

For the most part the ambient temperature will be moderate but will need to perform inventory in refrigerated area and freezer.There will be industrial vehicles (forklifts, Hilo) moving material throughout the warehouse.
