Job summary – What to expect: 

As an Inventory Operator, you will have to perform a range of activities including receiving and replenishing stock lenses, and raw materials. These tasks may be repetitive and will require training in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions. You'll work as part of a warehouse team, taking direction from the Team Leader or Senior Operator. Ensure that Team Leaders/Shift Leaders are informed of any work-related issues that could impact the department's ability to meet its objectives.

In addition, you will: 

Comply with Health & Safety at Work Act and promote good EHS and GMP practice within the department to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors to the area. Particularly, ensure safe use of specialist equipment such as Order Pickers, forklift trucks, pallet movers, racking, and other electrical equipment. Comply with all PPE policies and requirements for the area. Where requested, carry out daily checks against established EHS and GMP checklists covering equipment (e.g. Order Pickers, FLTs,) and the general working environment.  Receive incoming lenses and Raw Materials from internal and external sources verifying all items are correct. Identifying, putting away products ensuring all goods are located and stored in the correct locations according to procedure and available for picking. Through the effective use of the company’s WMS, JDA, Baan, Service Now, Agile and MS Office to ensure customer requirements, performance targets, and quality standards are met and when possible exceeded Provide support to your Team Leader or Senior Operator through feedback on Inventory issues on a regular basis.  Actively promote and be prepared to participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects. Carry out replenishments so stock is available in the forward pick locations for order allocation. Investigate and respond to issues in relation to Inventory; communicating where necessary any relevant information to your Team Leader, Senior Operator or members of other Departments to ensure minimum disruption and maximum service levels Pick and issue Materials for the user businesses to the agreed quality standards, verifying all items are correct, complete and present. Distribute materials to the user businesses in line with daily stock replenishment plans. Be prepared to work in other areas of operations for specified periods of time as required. Once fully trained, operate any machinery, vehicles or equipment as required for your position and duties Receive and supervise the off-loading of pallets at Packaging / Distribution sites Ensure rigorous inventory integrity for all items stored within the department Ensure the departmental KPI targets are met and where possible exceeded in compliance with the organization’s requirements, including production targets, quality standards and customer requirements Support Packaging / Distribution and take proactive action to resolve any stock issues that may adversely impact production Follow all systems, procedures, and routines for accurately completing and archiving department records Liaise with Purchasing, Planning, and QA to improve processes and procedures to improve supply to Packaging and Distribution Be able to work in a team environment while being able to self-motivate and when necessary cover for the Team Leader / Senior Operator if absent. Ensure the departmental KPI’s targets are met and where possible exceeded in compliance with the organization’s requirements, including production targets, quality standards and customer requirements Receive new training and train others as determined by the departmental training matrix. Training must be in accordance with relevant SOPs and associated documents. Share product knowledge within the department. Respond to problems in relation to the Warehouse functions, communicating any issues to your Team Leader to ensure minimum disruption, maximum service levels and optimized work / task planning.

We are looking for a results-driven and team orientated individual who has a good working knowledge of warehouse procedures and environment. Mechanical Handling Equipment Licenses for Order Pickers, VNA’s, Forklift trucks, and pallet stackers are preferred, they are not essential as long as you have the capability to achieve these.

 

Experience & Education:

The work, carried out is physically demanding and a significant proportion of the shift will require the member of staff to stand, walk and operate mechanical handling equipment Good working knowledge of Warehouse procedures and environment, computer inventory systems and Microsoft Office (or competence to achieve this).  Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate and demonstrate initiative to promote teamwork Receive new training and train others as determined by the departmental training matrix. Training must be in accordance with relevant SOPs and associated documents. Share product knowledge within the department. Follow all systems, procedures and routines for accurately completing, filing paperwork and archiving department records Liaise with Purchasing, Planning and QA to improve processes and procedures to improve supply to Packaging and Distribution Ability to work with minimum supervision within a team and at times be able to work effectively on your own, where necessary Able to identify process waste, suggest ideas for improvement, and actively participate in activities and events (as appropriate) Quality conscious and able to handle repetitive work and ensure consistency of work standards. Able to use Microsoft Office to produce documents and read/send emails.

 

Work Environment:

The post holders working environment will be a combination of indoor and outdoor working. Warehouse is a large open-plan warehouse; temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations. Outdoor working includes yards, drop off and collection points within the warehouse areas. Regular requirement to lift materials and /or boxes of lenses, up to 3kg-25kg Periods of prolonged standing. Working at height will be involved for this position.
