Summary
The Regional Inventory Specialist is responsible for coordinating the retail store cycle counting and inventory control practices and procedures to maintain transactional accuracy and to assure compliance with standard operating procedures and audit requirements. This position supports the internal supply chain and distribution functions and works to optimize inventory management through collaboration with the distribution center. Additionally this position prepares and analyzes various inventory related reports to identify and resolve any inventory control issue. The Regional Inventory Specialist is accountable for ensuring high levels of store inventory accuracy, not only to support the Company’s business objectives, but also to contribute to the effective management of inventory-related costs.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the semi-annual store inventory process, including date scheduling, scanner preparation and resource coordination. Count merchandise in stock and post totals to inventory records. Verify clerical computations against physical count and investigate discrepancies. Develop and maintain all inventory-related documentation per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Facilitate a quarterly cycle count process in the clearance outlets.
Analyze inventory transactions, monitor cost and identify exceptions and shrinkage. Investigate and resolve inventory-related issues. Identify discrepancies in merchandise tagging or SKUs and coordinate resolution. Collaborate with management to correct identified inventory control problems.
Run various daily, weekly and monthly reports to ensure correct movement of merchandise and to correct any discrepancies.
Conduct store visits; document findings and corrections; submit to management for review.
Reconcile retail merchandise invoices and purchase orders. Reconcile past due purchase orders; review shipping and receiving documents for accuracy; support distribution center service reps with billing and receiving issues.
Report adjustment of inventory adds and losses.
Maintain the Junk report and arrange for disposal of damaged merchandise.
Monitor in-transit inventory and location changes in respect to store-to-store, store-to-warehouse and warehouse-to-store transfers.
Serve as a liaison between the stores and local distribution center; engage in quality control processes and programs.
Coordinate the merchandise donation process for retail-store sponsored charities and/or special projects.
