About the Role
Due to continued growth, Babcock is seeking an Inventory Specialist to join our expanding Defence team, embedded within a Defence Program Office in Melbourne. This role offers the opportunity to manage key inventory functions, ensuring optimal stock levels and maintaining the integrity of our inventory catalogue, all while building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire inventory management process within the Defence ERP system, generating requisitions and transfers, and liaising with the Joint Logistics Unit to drive efficient inventory management. You’ll also work to ensure data quality and monitor key performance metrics, including Nil Stock on Hand and Outstanding Requisitions. Your role will extend to managing the disposal process, including issuing directives and tracking disposal status, as well as coordinating the cataloguing and codification of new items in consultation with technical teams.
A key aspect of your role will involve identifying and managing inventory risks, while ensuring that commercial risks are mitigated in line with Defence due diligence requirements. You’ll also engage with internal and external stakeholders to offer value-added solutions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Furthermore, you'll support the team by providing training to new staff, ensuring knowledge transfer and team success.
