Inventory Specialist

Position Summary:

The Inventory Specialist’s primary focus is to oversee daily inventory information processing, reporting issues and tracking resolutions for specific market locations.  The Inventory Specialist will also work with a team to help develop and implement all policies, procedures, systems and best practices with regard to inventory, for the purpose of maintaining accurate financial information. Assists with inventory movement of liquefied petroleum gas (propane) and at Dead River Company rail terminals and throughout the company.

The propane inventory specialist’s primary job function is to oversee daily inventory information processing, reporting issues and tracking resolution for specific market locations. The inventory specialist will also work with a team to help develop and implement all policies, procedures, systems and best practices with regard to inventory, for the purpose of maintaining accurate financial information.

Essential Functions:

Assists in processing bills of lading. Coordination of rail plant supply and demand fulfillment including Westbrook, Hampden, and Auburn.  Provides back-up support to the Rail Coordinator.  Coordinates inventory, movement, and purchasing of propane tanks in the field for the Hampden and Westbrook plants.  Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining systems inventory control.  Participates in special projects as needed.

Other Tasks:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Experience:

General office experience, familiarity with accounting procedures, and some bookkeeping and data processing experience is preferred.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.  Some college work preferred.

None is required for this position.

There is frequent telephone communication with Dead River district offices.

Decisions Made:

Job assignments and operating procedures are generally quite specific and routine in nature.  Unusual issues or problems are referred to the Staff Supervisor for guidance or resolution.

Safety Considerations:

Safety considerations relate to proper ergonomics in an office setting including appropriate workstation and computer terminal setup. Safe and appropriate use of electronic equipment is expected.

Equipment Used:

Equipment used in this position includes a calculator, networked personal computer, various printers, photocopiers, FAX machine and telephone.

Work Environment:

Nearly all work is performed in an office setting with controlled temperature and lighting.

Weight or Force Moved:
