Description:

The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by an IDS technician in this position.  They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities.  Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.

Receives investigational drug products from various study drug sponsors via various carriers/couriers and confirms correct product received.  Documents inventory transactions in investigational drug studies drug accountability systems.  Processes damaged, expired, or dispensed products for returns. Distributes and stocks in appropriate storage space. Assists with maintaining the inventory of drugs and supplies, and confirming inventory counts and checking expiration dating.  Assists with preparing invoices for billing. Under the supervision of the IDS pharmacist, assists with internal auditing of drug dispensing records to ensure compliance and identify and escalate any discrepancies to the IDS pharmacist.  Monitors refrigerators and freezers temperatures and other environmental controls as required for drug storage. Identify and escalate to facilities to address and resolve any environmental issues. Assists with compiling inventory or environmental reports for sponsors or regulatory requirements.  Fills prescriptions or performs sterile and non-sterile compounding investigational of study drugs. Prepares and packages investigational drugs for shipping. Assists with medication reconciliation of IDS agents. Delivers IP to the unit and/or to the patient when required.  Submits drug destruction information to the sponsor.  Assists IDS pharmacist with site initiation and monitoring visits. Trains technician staff and ensures competency by auditing and/or providing just-in-time feedback for accuracy.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.5+ relevant experience preferred.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires full proficiency as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under limited supervision.
• Requires strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires strong customer service skills.
• Requires intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
