Position Summary:
Reports to the warden. Responsible for investigating and recommending resolutions to inmate grievances in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. Gadsden Correctional Facility is a gender responsive, trauma informed female facility. Your responsibilities will include the application of gender responsive and trauma informed care and practices while working with female offenders.
Essential Functions:
1. Investigate inmate grievances about reported and suspected violations of statutes, rules or regulations.
2. Identify, gather and examine agency records.
3. Identify, contact and interview potential witnesses by taking statements from witnesses and complainants.
4. Prepare comprehensive and detailed investigative reports. Maintain appropriate grievance data and analyze trends.
5. Prepare cases for presentation at hearings or in court.
6. Testify at hearings or in court. Present evidence of violations. If appropriate, serve as a witness.
7. Maintain confidentiality in the course of conducting investigations and in everyday activities.
8. It is expected that the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
9. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
10. Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent, one (1) year experience in conducting investigations in a correctional or other law enforcement environment required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
