Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Dec 18 2024 GSK is looking for a highly motivated cell biologist with cellular imaging experience to join the department of Discovery Biology and Screening (DBS) at GSK’s research facility in Upper Providence, Pennsylvania. The primary responsibility of the DBS department is to deliver high quality, biologically relevant pre-clinical leads for all GSK therapeutic areas, by employing a combination of scientific tools and methodologies, including but not limited to assay development, high throughput screening, compound profiling, and mechanism of action studies. As an Investigator, you will apply your cell biology and imaging expertise to develop complex cell based assays for hepatology, respiratory and oncology programs for use in high-throughput screening and mechanistic studies. This is an exciting, lab-based role that will allow the individual to contribute to early drug discovery programs through validation of novel targets and new chemical entities. The successful candidate is expected to be effective in designing and executing experiments at the highest possible scientific standard, be highly flexible and productive, and possess positive communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Independently design, implement, analyze, and interpret high content fluorescent imaging assays to support multiparametric large-scale screening across multiple disease areas (oncology, hepatology & respiratory). Optimally derive information content from imaging readouts through internal collaboration with Data Science and AI/ML teams. Develop and troubleshoot disease relevant cellular assays using a wide range of technologies. Communicate experimental findings effectively, in written and verbal formats. Work collaboratively in a matrix team environment to drive timely delivery of projects and objectives. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD with 2-3 yrs experience or Master’s degree with 8-10 yrs experience in biological sciences (such as Cell Biology, Immunology, Oncology or Molecular Pharmacology). More than two years experience in confocal microscopy, high content imaging, and image analysis At least one year experience with cell biology, cell culture, and cell-based assay development. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Experience running high throughput, high content screens (i.e. understanding of screening best practices, experience using automated liquid handling platforms). Expertise in one or more of the following techniques and data analysis: multicolor flow cytometry, primary cell isolation and culture, complex cellular systems,3D culture and phenotypic assays. Experience with standard image analytics, secondary analysis packages, and data visualization tools (i.e. Image J/FIJI, Columbus/Harmony, Spotfire, Genedata Screener, etc) to analyze imaging data. Ability to independently design, execute and interpret high-quality experiments. Previous experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry Strong communication skills; comfort presenting both virtually and in person.
