Compensation includes a base salary of $79,400.00 - $119,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Retirement Investment Team at Cox Enterprises implements strategic investment activities of defined benefit (DB) assets exceeding $7 billion, as well as the investment platform of the 401(k) defined contribution (DC) assets with assets of $8 billion.  This detail-oriented individual will have a wide range of responsibilities across the investment management function including but not limited to assisting in reporting, audit preparation, cash management, documentation, performance monitoring, aiding in preparing presentations, and investment manager research. 

This position reports to the Investments Manager.  He/she will partner as needed with other members of the Investment Team, as well as Cox internal teams such as Accounting, Benefits Administration, Financial Reporting, and Tax.  He/she will also work with external legal counsel and actuarial service providers.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Operations, Compliance, Accounting and Tax

Assists as needed with operations, audit, compliance and tax documentation as needed—ensures timely filing of all required reportsProvides information to support various regulatory, tax and other external disclosures and filings including: 5500, Annual Funding Notice, and Fiduciary Insurance--ensures consistent delivery of accurate informationAdheres to operating disciplines and regulatory standardsReviews integrity of reports, highlighting any discrepancies and works to resolve any differencesOversees cash flows by interacting with the investment managers, third-party administrators and custodian as necessarySets up new investments in the system by working with the investment team to understand key investment properties and benchmarks, reading legal documents and entering fee and liquidity termsPerforms investment, cash and unfunded commitment reconciliationVerifies accuracy of invoices, sets up wire transfers and processes paymentsWorks with bank custodian to complete and file global tax documents

Investment Monitoring and Reporting

Manages investment reporting as necessary for the 401(k) and defined benefit plansMonitors the performance and risk exposure of highly complex investments to ensure these investments are well understood and complement investment objectivesConducts ongoing due diligence and monitoring of investment managers across all asset classesIdentifies areas of underperformance and works with other team members to make changes to improve plan performanceResearches investment strategies, asset allocation methods, and practices that align with Plan objectivesAssists in preparing investment analysis and commentary for the investment committee

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics) and 2 years’ experience in a related field (investment management, accounting, banking, cash management, or reporting)The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or 6 years’ experience in a related field.Basic knowledge of capital markets and investments and/or keen interest in developing knowledge of capital markets and investmentsProficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience in creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets using advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis toolsDemonstrates excellent writing and communication skillsSelf-motivated, organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once while also ensuring that all deliverables consistently meet the highest standard of quality and accuracyHigh ethical standards, trustworthy, maintains confidentiality (acceptable background check will be required)Curiosity and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify solutions to problems but also unafraid to ask for help

Preferred 

Progress toward CAIA/FRM/CFA designation or desire to pursueFamiliarity with investment markets and reportingStrong background in statistics or quantitative methods
