What you’ll be doing
As an Investment Portfolio Strategist with CIBC Wealth Management’s Chicago office, you’ll support a Senior Relationship Manager in delivering exceptional service to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. You’ll assist with portfolio management, financial planning, investment decisions, trading, research, and all aspects of account administration. In this highly professional, fast-paced environment, you’ll collaborate with a team of colleagues to maximize client retention, grow new business, and ensure client portfolios align with investment strategies and objectives.
How you’ll succeed
Provide financial planning: Implement cash flow analysis for clients and implement asset allocation adjustments based on their circumstances.
Support client relationships: Assist in managing client portfolios to maximize retention and drive new business growth.
Implement investment decisions: Execute asset allocation changes, rebalance portfolios, and implement investment recommendations as directed by Senior Relationship Managers.
Enhance portfolio performance: Prepare and analyze performance reporting against benchmarks, address liquidity needs, and manage tax loss harvesting and manager changes.
Deliver exceptional service: Respond to client inquiries, address unique client issues, and engage with clients directly, building independence over time.
Provide research and insights: Compile data on investment strategies, portfolio performance, and market outlooks for client and prospect communication.
Ensure compliance: Implement and manage operational and compliance risk controls in line with CIBC and business requirements.
Collaborate effectively: Partner with internal teams to provide seamless, professional, and timely client service.
Contribute to business development: Support business development efforts by attending client, networking, or company events, including those after normal business hours.
Who you are
Experienced professional: Bring 10+ years of financial services experience, ideally with exposure to client relationship management, and hold a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Investment-savvy: Have a strong understanding of global financial markets, including equities, fixed income, and alternative investments.
Analytical expert: Demonstrate expertise in asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk-return analytics, performance measurement, and compliant reporting.
Technologically proficient: Advanced in Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Word, with familiarity in trust accounting systems, primarily SEI, trading systems (e.g., CRD), and FACTSET.
Detail-oriented communicator: Excel at preparing professional performance reports and engaging with clients to address complex issues.
Team-oriented: Thrive in a collaborative team structure while operating independently to complete assigned responsibilities.
Adaptable and proactive: Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected base salary range of $125,000 - $155,000 for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
