We have an opportunity for a IoT Systems Architect to join our Apex, NC team. The IoT Systems Architect plays a crucial role in defining an architectural vision that aligns with business goals and market needs. You will ensure effective communication of the architectural vision through well-defined technical solutions translated from market requirements and will be responsible for facilitating the implementation by guiding (global) agile teams through the system design(s).
You will:
Serve as a technical leader to help architect, define, document, and deliver end to end IoT products across apps, cloud, edge, and device domains.
Own the system architecture, including physical and functional as well as data models, analytics and insights, interfaces, protocols, security, and IoT use case definitions.
Defining technical solutions and creating a common language within the cross-functional team through architectural artifacts, requirements definition, technical specifications, and functional workflows.
Technical responsibility for capacity planning and project scoping as well as successful execution of BU-focused projects aimed at developing Smart products and IoT solutions; such projects/products include fully developed commercial products, minimum viable products, rapid prototypes, and proof-of-concepts.
Collaborate with Pentair global technical resources to lead IoT Product solutions development, delivery, and sustainment.
Ensure effective communication and implementation of the architectural vision through design/solution evolution, facilitating adaptability and design trade-off decisions through agile iteration.
Maintain the balance between technical possibilities and business objectives, constantly focusing on value creation through strategic decision making and agile execution.
Drive collaboration and alignment with product management, product owners, engineering leadership, and the agile team to achieve desired outcomes.
Work with enterprise architects and other IoT system architects to ensure software and firmware architectures follow industry best practices for design methods, security, testability, and support within the overall architecture of the IoT ecosystem.
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to other Pentair sites and customer locations. Travel will both domestic and international.
Key Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering
10+ years’ experience in product development and project management including 5+ years’ experience in the Smart Products & IoT area.
5+ years’ experience in embedded development for IoT device and edge for connectivity with a cloud backend.
Experience in defining full-stack technical solutions, from device to cloud to app.
Awareness of cybersecurity best practices
Expertise in various IoT protocols including HTTPS, TCP/IP, MQTT, COAP, 6LoWPAN, WebSockets, Matter, etc.
Compensation:
For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $110,700 - $205,600 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
