**Job Summary**
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented IP specialist. Responsible for communicating with the business, outside counsel, and our in-house legal team regarding upcoming U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and U.S. Copyright Office deadlines, trademark search requests and trademark search results, and trademark and patent filings around the globe.
**Job Description**
**Core Responsibilities**
+ Reviewing client dockets for upcoming deadlines, notifying the business of upcoming deadlines and requirements, and following up with them as needed;
+ Communicating with outside counsel to provide instructions for filing and prosecuting trademark applications and addressing outside counsel’s requests for powers of attorneys and other filing information;
+ Assisting in trademark clearance searches, including (1) managing the intake of trademark search requests; (2) conducting preliminary searches in the USPTO and Saegis databases; and (3) communicating with inhouse and outside counsel regarding the search results.
+ Assist attorneys engaged in preparation and filing of patent applications, including: (1) maintaining a patent docket system by entering new matters and running an electronic updating system; (2) handling patent annuity and maintenance payment system and service; and (3) reviewing and processing correspondence from outside law firms related to filing and prosecution of patent applications.
+ Prepare patent-related reports, including patent docket queries, statistics for periodic reports and presentations, data related to patent application filings, etc.
+ Maintaining and organizing electronic patent and trademark files.
+ Working with counsel to create draft identifications of goods/services, obtaining information from the business
+ Preparing form agreements, memos, and filings related to intellectual property
+ Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
+ Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
**Requirements**
+ 2-3 years of intellectual property experience, including using an IP practice management system in a law firm or IP corporate legal department setting and experience with monitoring patent and trademark dockets.
