This role is based on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay.
As Stingray Facilitator, you will assist in the care of our population of southern stingrays, facilitate informal yet interactive and engaging presentations while demonstrating how to feed stingrays and take part in ensuring our guests participating in Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure have an exceptional experience while visiting Castaway Cay.
You will report to: Animal Programs Manager. Responsibilities: Assist in the care of our population of southern stingraysResponsible for raw shellfish food preparationStand, wade, swim, snorkel and work in water, on sand, and in sun for much of the dayTake part in a high level of guest interaction while facilitating the feeding of stingraysProvide general cleaning, maintenance support, and physical work to support the stingray program and equipmentCheck-in pre-registered guests participating in Castaway Ray’s Stingray AdventureAssist guests with walk-up sales and provide information of the stingray programFacilitate an informal yet interactive and engaging presentations and the demonstration on how to feed stingraysAssist guests with stingray feedingMake guests feel comfortable interacting with aquatic marine animalsProvide instruction and safety information to guests to support the operation and use of snorkel equipmentClean, sanitize and organize all snorkel equipmentMaintain cleanliness of island beach facilities; duties include but are not limited to cleaning division nets in the water, place and clean beach chairs, clean beach with sand sifter, clear seaweed, rake beaches, pick trash, maintain umbrellas on beaches, etc.Prepare animal diets (involves handling seafood and raw shellfish)Feed and train stingrays and assorted marine fishProvide assistance in cleaning and maintaining a flow through fish holding facility/filtration systemDon snorkel gear and swim to locate animals checking net integrity and animal healthDrive and operate small motorized vehicles Basic Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the BahamasExperience working in position with a high level of customer/guest interactionExperience and/or comfort working with, around, and handling large aquatic animalsComfortable working in ocean water and changing tidesStrong swimming/snorkeling skillsComfortable with public speaking and the facilitation of formal and informal group presentationsExperience operating/handling small boatsSCUBA certification, desired Additional Information: This role is based on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.
