The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is Rutgers’ enterprise IT office. OIT provides university wide services and support and collaborates with department and unit IT professionals on projects and initiatives for the Rutgers community. Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an IST Analyst II for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Reporting to the IT Manager of the Platform Systems Administration group within Enterprise Infrastructure, the IST Analyst II (Linux Administration) is primarily responsible for the technical support and management of Linux and Unix server operating systems and hardware. Key duties include ensuring robust system security, conducting regular monitoring and upgrades, maintaining system stability and services availability, and managing various middleware packages. The incumbent will support systems housed in the Enterprise Infrastructure Data Centers, various remote edge locations, and at 11:11 Systems in Philadelphia.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems, software, and server hardware. Monitors system performance, utilization, and security logs. Implements and manages security tools and policies. Updates systems with the latest security patches. Identifies and corrects hardware and software issues. Works closely with other EI IT staff to ensure hardware and software interoperability. Communicates effectively with team members to enhance system functionality and resolve issues. Assists other EI systems programmers/administrators with problem diagnosis and resolution. Documents system configurations and upgrades. Maintains current knowledge of server operating systems and hardware technologies utilized by EI. Maintains current knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl, etc.).
