The IT Accessibility Specialist position at United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) is responsible for ensuring that all internally developed applications and systems are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. The individual in this role will work closely with application developers, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to promote universal design principles and make our applications more accessible and user-friendly. The ideal candidate for this position will thrive in our fast-paced environment and is passionate about collaboration and execution. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING • Review and evaluate existing applications for accessibility issues and recommend corrective actions. Participate in the development of new applications to provide guidance on accessibility best practices. Develop and implement accessibility standards and guidelines in compliance with Section 508, WCAG 2.0, and other relevant standards. Conduct accessibility testing using a variety of tools and methods, including manual and automated testing. Provide training and support to development teams on accessibility best practices. • Work collaboratively with different teams to understand unique user needs and ensure our software solutions are accessible and user-friendly. Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the field of IT accessibility. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must-Have: 

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience. Proven experience in IT accessibility, including familiarity with accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.0. Strong understanding of universal design principles and how to implement them in a digital environment. Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to partner with team members across the floor and leadership at all levels on projects and issue resolutionCollaborate and provide assistance to other team members with their tasks and responsibilities as necessary.Full-time, on-site attendance in Pontiac, Michigan, with occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
