EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for Linux/UNIX Engineer. This position can be located in Germantown, MD or Denver, CO. We are looking for a collaborator to work within the Corporate IT team supporting Linux servers in a predominately virtual environment.

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and adhere to standards and procedures and provide day-to-day operational support of development, test, and production server and storage environmentsResponsible for project commitments, development of overall project specifications and schedulesProvide customer service by assessing performance problems and resolving issues in the areas of performance tuning, availability, integrity, recoverability and documentationParticipate in an on-call rotationProvide support for security, network and operational issuesUse the ticketing system to schedule and maintain workflow on approved requestsPatching and upgrading of server operating systemsProvide monthly reports to Internal Audit and respond to ad-hoc requestsManage user account provisioning and timely termination

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, information systems , related field or combination of education and experience10+ years’ experience installing, configuring, and supporting Linux operating systems; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, 8.x and 9.x .Hands-on experience administering virtual servers in VMware environments including vCenter and ESXi.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Red Hat (RHCSA, RHCE)Cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure certification)Use of Ansible to query, report on, and manage large numbers of serversStrong Linux skills and knowledge of protocols including LDAP, SFTP, CUPS, NFS, TCP/IP networksExperience in scripting in ksh, bash, Perl, Python, PowerShell, etc.Experience in problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques.Knowledge of Commvault backup and recoveryCritical thinking/debugging skills from application to network layerAbility to multitask/context switch in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with both on-premise and cloud-based (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services) server virtualization.Knowledge of OpenShift a plus

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $94,000.00 - $125,000.00
