Primary Purpose of Position:
Assist with the conduct of day-to-day operations and with project-related responsibilities in support of the Network Services department at Boston Properties. The position will partner with a team of Network Engineers to support, maintain, and implement technologies including new construction design and buildouts, endpoint connectivity, routing, switching, backup power, service optimization, lifecycle management, and monitoring.
Essential Functions
Network Engineering/Administration Support
Daily development of assigned network, data center and cloud tools. Daily monitoring of enterprise networks and servers. Investigate active and potential outages within the environment. Help develop company-wide enterprise networking, data center, and cloud best practices. Research technology enhancements and make recommendations. Help review new and ongoing technology needs.Dedicated Project Work
Every Intern is assigned an impactful project(s). Approximately 30% of time is associated with project work. The scope of project(s) changes, but the impact will enhance the IS Department at BXP.Internal Operations
Create and maintain documentation. Conduct research on new technologies and products.
Requirements and Qualifications
Currently performing coursework in Computer Sciences or a related field. Possess a service orientation and attitude in working with others. Be detail-oriented and methodical in solving problems and managing multiple projects. Possess an aptitude toward learning technical concepts. Be results-oriented and a quick learner in supporting new products and technologies. Strong knowledge of relational databases and accounting practices. Possess a working knowledge of Windows 7 and Office 2010 and at least one software package in each of the following categories: word processor and spreadsheet.

Involves work of a general office nature usually performed sitting such as operation of a computer. Involves work of a general office nature usually performed standing such as operation of a fax and printer. Involves movement between departments to facilitate work. Involves lifting to install and/or relocate computers and monitors. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Reporting Structure
This position reports to the SVP, Chief Information Officer, who provides supervision, guidance and evaluates work performance on a periodic basis.
