IT Architect

Job Summary: 

The IT Architect develops and communicates a holistic view and roadmap of the company’s technology strategy for applications, infrastructure and related services, with a specific focus on applications and systems integration. The IT Architect consults and advises with both business and technology delivery groups to ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with the company’s overall objectives and satisfy the specific project business requirements, while maximizing extensibility, interoperability and the value of the technology investments.  This position is ultimately responsible for the company’s technology strategy for applications, infrastructure and related services for a particular business unit.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Responsible for building the long-term strategic architecture roadmap for all IT systems and related services, aligned to the company’s business objectives, with a focus on data management and data integration. Identify, evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and technology service providers that will improve the business. Advise business partners on technology alternatives and technology implications of business directions. Consult and advise business and technology subject-matter experts, ultimately translating business requirements into technology solution approaches. Perform cost-benefit analysis to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or prebuilt in-house components. Lead and/or oversee the design and modeling of tactical architectures for solution delivery, and verify alignment of physical solution to architecture. Develop and maintain policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure that a consistent framework is applied across the company. Promote the use of a shared infrastructure and application roadmap to reduce costs and improve information flows. Manage and facilitate a review board to evaluate project proposals for architectural fit.

 

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

BS and MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience required 8+ years IT experience, with a preference for breadth of domains, technologies, and roles, with depth in: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and ancillary components. Windows Server and Windows Desktop architecture and management. Hypervisor management such as VMWare vSphere and Citrix XenServer. Application packaging using Microsoft Configuration Manager, App-V or similar tools. Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy management, as well as EntraID. Reporting, monitoring and profile management tools. 2+ years in a team lead or manager role with direct reports. Demonstrated expertise in modeling and visualizing technology architectures and solutions. Ability to document and effectively communicate complex technical subject matter. Experience building enterprise architecture roadmaps. Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards to meet business requirements. Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex technical solutions Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, application, networking and systems engineering. Ability to challenge conventional technology wisdom. Strong leadership, negotiation and consensus-building skills with business and technical groups. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong project management and organization skills. Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to recommend new technologies and directions with incomplete information.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time Position requires operation of a computer and other standard office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, computer printer up to 90% of the time Frequently communicates with employees in the office and at remote locations
