JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role is a Linux System Admin will work within the DC One Card program team to administer and support Linux and Windows in support of the IAM platform.
DC1C OIAM is looking for an experienced, independent and solution-oriented Applications System Administrator to manage and support the Linux and Windows environments used by the DC One Card IAM platform. The System Administrator will also be tasked with supporting system development efforts, health and performance monitoring and working with the Citywide Information Technology Security team to maintain security of the platform.
The DC One Card (DC1C) Identity and Access Management (IAM) program was initiated to put a single ID card into the hands of District government residents, workers and customers for all their DC government needs. Most recently, the DC1C program begun provisioning digital federated credentials to be used to access online District services.
Detailed Responsibilities Include:
• Manages the day-to-day operations of the Linux and Windows systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
• Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
• Works with centralized Linux administration and database administration team to assist support activities.
• Perform periodic audits of system security settings.
• Analyze known security vulnerabilities and threats of OS, JRE and Application Servers. Work towards to resolving the vulnerabilities.
• Install and configure Linux based application and Java based application in the environment.
• Deploy application and configuration in JBoss environment with proven back out plan.
• Create scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Ensure consistency across the various platform environments (e.g., DEV, QA, PROD).
• Establish Disaster Recovery environments and procedures and test periodically.
• Schedule and apply SSL certificate updates in advance of their expiration.
• Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends with little advanced notice.
