This position will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL Databases hosted in a VM/Windows environment and Microsoft Azure environment. The position will communicate directly with customers to understand, document and fulfill their database requirements. In addition to the technical skills required for the job, the position will coordinate and participate in meetings, effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, guide vendors and offer advice and recommendations on proposed solutions. This position will assist with the implementation and management of the Enterprise Data Services Microsoft Azure Cloud Tenancy and will provide ongoing maintenance and support to ensure that MS SQL systems are kept up to date with the latest software versions and patches.

1. Design, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve advanced operational and performance related database issues, coordinate changes, and maintain database structures, and assist in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment2. Design, coordinate, implement, and determine procedures necessary to save and recover production databases, and to recover databases from hardware and software failure3. Perform database performance monitoring and auditing, implement efficiency improvements, and modify existing databases and database management systems4. Design, configure and implement database network connectivity working with required technical teams.5. Monitor capacity versus utilization and recommends appropriate action on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation6. Create databases and database objects, such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, and stored procedures7. Track database assets and critical information about those assets8. Assist in development of data security standards to ensure data integrity data security9. Maintain data standards, prepare and develop database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries10. Create test database environment for applications section, including the creation of necessary libraries and procedures11. Install new software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing and implementing new technology
