The Director of Cloud Security and Operations, reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure & Operations, builds and leads the team responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing cloud technologies through the implementation of industry best practices in Digital Technology Services (DTS) for the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Responsible for partnering with enterprise and technology leaders to drive HMH cloud strategy and transformation aligning with business objectives. Will interface directly with senior business and technology leaders to transform HMH current business and technology capabilities by defining the target state, and roadmaps, and identifying new and emerging technologies that will transform and optimize the business. Serves and inspires a team of high-performing architects, engineers, and operations personnel through coaching, mentoring, and empowerment.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Director, Cloud Security and Operations at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Drive cloud native services and security strategy, governance, and execution through partnership and driving alignment with key business and technology team members. Establish and evolve a unified architecture vision working with architecture leaders to enable business imperatives. Pursue modern architecture principles and technology modernization through strong thought leadership. Look for opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise. Cloud risk reporting to senior leadership. Manage and maintain cloud service provider relationships and monitor compliance. Responsible for developing a cloud education plan, training programs, and a knowledge hub for direct team members and the broader HMH organization as technologies are adopted. Establish team goals for governing security and compliance and track and report on overall team achievement. Oversee all cloud development and operations (DevOps) and maintain cloud DevOps per standard operating procedures (SOPs), auditing requirements, and disaster recovery plans. Oversee the generation of cloud policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cloud native technologies and ensure standard processes are followed (e.g. vulnerability management, risk management, problem management, incident management, DevOps,). Propose and implement changes to the same in consultation with other HMH technology teams as the cloud transforms business or technology processes. Monitor team performance and workload. Optimize operational tasks to ensure service level targets are met/escalated. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders regarding the delivery of excellent service-oriented support. Advisor to others to ensure production quality solutions and work schedules are met and technical and operations problems are resolved. Deliver results by working with virtual teams in a challenging, often tactical, environment. Contribute, review, and approve capital and operational planning, budgeting, and vendor selection and management. Ensure a secure cloud environment aligned with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 publication. Responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination. Responsibility for accountability, management, and optimization of the organization's cloud-related costs. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or related field. Minimum of 15+ years of experience in a technical, multi-discipline management position, including cloud experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical leadership, preferably within healthcare. Proven track record of hiring, coaching, and retaining team members. Ability to drive strategic and operational direction. Excellent understanding of cloud computing technologies and modern computing trends. Wide breadth of knowledge across security products, tools, and industry trends; ability to create solutions using a pragmatic, risk-based approach. Understanding of malware, emerging threats, attacks, and vulnerability management. Visionary with a track record of building high-quality enterprise solutions and results-driven teams. Strong architecture, engineering, and operations skills. Deep understanding of modern technologies including but not limited to cloud-native, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or related field. A minimum of 17 years of experience in a technical, multi-discipline management position, including cloud experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in technical leadership, preferably within healthcare. Experience in both GCP and Azure public clouds. Experience in cloud architecture and operations within a healthcare environment. Understanding and experience with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 framework and experience delivering cloud solutions within its guidelines. Experience working with large, complex information systems and managing cloud operations at large scale.Licenses and Certifications Required:
At least one of the following professional security certifications at hire or must obtain within one (1) year of hire: GIAC certifications, OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), Cloud Security Alliance: Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), or other comparable professional security certification.Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
