The Manager of IT Applications works with supervision from the IT Director in performing a variety of administrative, technical, project management, release management and supervisory work in the Information Technology organization. Oversees assigned applications which may include ERP, EPIC and Ancillary Applications. The manager will provide leadership to the team and collaborate across departmental boundaries to ensure IT goals are met on time and within budget. Manages team members and addresses any conflicts or grievances in a timely manner with support from the IT Director. Excellence in project management, release management, customer service and superior teamwork skills are essential. Serves as a resource to team members and assists in troubleshooting, mentoring, and escalation of issues as required.
Collaborates within IT, Operational stakeholders and vendors to directly and indirectly support Lab service line applications. This includes, but is not limited to Epic Beaker, Data Innovations, SCC SoftBank, Abbott RALS, and Telcor.
Your Everyday
GENERAL DUTIES
Provides leadership and direction for Applications Team:
• Assists director in planning, coordinating, and troubleshooting activities around the Applications team.
• Manages the prioritization, development, testing and release of enhancements and releases through a defined Sprint cycle.
• Provides continuous feedback to the IT Director regarding priorities and status of work being performed within the Applications group.
• Communicates and works closely with IT Leadership, Operational Leadership, Stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) representing IT in a professional manner.
• Inspects work for exactness and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Maintains availability to assist in troubleshooting and providing support. Consistently meets or exceeds SLA's.
• Adheres to policies and procedures, as well as the Code of Conduct and all laws and regulations. Performs duties in an ethical manner.
• Provides workflow and technical support for projects to ensure project tasks are met on time and within budget.
• Ensures analysts retain pertinent qualifications including certifications/expertise required to support their assigned systems.
• Ensures analysts follow through on assigned projects and tasks and delegates support issues to the appropriate staff.
• Manages and guides testing of applications using appropriate methodologies and tools; analyzes and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
• Oversees work schedules, on call schedules, and time keeping activities.
• Conducts performance evaluations in a timely manner.
• Assists the Director in FTE and financial budgeting.
• Demonstrates effective leadership qualities and conducts regular meetings and touchpoints with staff.
IT communications and decision making:
• Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and inspects work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances. Performs or helps subordinates in performing duties. Adjusts errors and complaints.
Other Duties as required:
• Completes required documentation.
• Serves as member of various employee committees to discuss workflow, system needs, and changes.
• Coordinates activities with other departments and work groups as needed.
• Serves as a backup to related positions as needed.
• Help Desk support as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
The Must-Haves
Minimum:
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
• Required: 5 years of experience working in the assigned application as well as technical proficiency.
• Required: 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Note: Epic Certification is required for Epic positions.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
• Required: Bachelor's Degree.
• Preferred: Master's Degree.

• Extensive working knowledge of healthcare and ERP systems.
• Ability to conceptualize and analyze complex issues.
• Strong leadership skills achieving results through others.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers and supervisors.

• Verbal and written communications are clear, concise and accurate; uses positive non-verbal communication effectively.

• Ability to direct a variety of projects in addition to an understanding of the ways in which information technology is applied within the enterprise.

• Ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
• Able to apply job knowledge to develop policies and procedures and improve work processes.
• Epic or other certification required where appropriate.
