IT Network Engineer

Responsibilities
Manage inventory of offline network equipment.Manage and lead efforts for online network equipment inventory. Upgrade software and stage base configurations for devices pending shipment.Manage logistics and shipments of network equipment. Provides operational support in addition to evaluation and implementation services for new products, technologies and solutions to address corporate business requirements.   Accepts responsibility for creation of test cases using own in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability and portability). Produces test scripts, materials and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services. Interprets, executes and documents complex test scripts using agreed methods and standards. Records and analyzes actions and results, and maintains a defect register. Reviews test results and modifies tests if necessary. Provides reports on progress, anomalies, risks and issues associated with the overall project. Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases. Assesses and analyzes release components. Provides input to scheduling. Carries out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods – manual or automatic - and ensuring, where possible, information exchange with configuration management. Ensures release processes and procedures are maintained.Provides advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.Based on your area, effort and activities are daily maintenance and support of existing environments, or project assignments that can be large in scope and typical medium complexity. Provide exceptional customer service to CommonSpirit end users, Business Stakeholders and other members of CommonSpirit ITD.Perform patching and/or code deployments across all environments. Participate in projects associated with the enhancement, upgrade/patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions. Participates in support efforts with CommonSpirit Health support teams and takes ownership of technical issues in Network Engineering. Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting. Initiate change management requests and adhere to the CommonSpirit Health IT CM process. Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents complex programs/scripts and integration services. Perform source code/versioning management function adhering to technical management guidelines. Assist with the design and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring and alerting process across all Technology Infrastructure platforms.Assist with strategic planning activities (capacity planning, process improvement, maintenance, upgrade and end-of-life planning, roadmap development). Build new test and production environments on existing or new hardware as required. Identify automation opportunities and implement scripted solutions. Identify technical innovation and process improvement opportunities. Utilize standard tools and methodology to develop system and support performance metrics. Demonstrate a basic knowledge & expertise with CommonSpirit Health business processes and routines.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

BA or BS in Computer Science, Technology, or Business discipline or equivalent experience is required. Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field is required. 5+ years of experience with Cisco Route Switch and Wireless infrastructure.Experience with datacenter and MDF/IDF closet construction design (cabling, racks, power, cooling).Experience or understanding of Cisco Nexus platform preferred.3-5 years of experience with vendor management.Experience with Cisco wireless, and moderate understanding of wireless design and coverage preferred.Strong understanding and experience with WAN protocols and topology:MPLSQoSBGPMetro Optical EthernetMultiPoint MOEProven abilities in problem management, process analysis and root cause analysis is required.

Required Licensure and Certifications

CCNA or CCNP Certification Preferred

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Ability to develop and organize written documentation and procedures is required.Strong written and oral communication skills desired.Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills desired.Ability to exercise good judgment in determining work and problem resolution priorities and approaches.Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment.Healthcare industry experience a plus.Inventory Management experience a plus.Shipping and logistics experience a plus.
