IT / Network Specialist

As the IT / Network Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining temporary wired and wireless LANs and WANs. The purpose of the LANs is to provide data communications and connectivity among detection sensors and command systems local to an airport. The WANs will provide this connectivity from up to four CONUS airports to the command trailers located at the Atlantic city International Airport (ACY). You will coordinate with data comm providers (e.g., Verizon, ATT) to provide bandwidth and connectivity requirements. You will also support the development, deployment, and troubleshooting of applications and databases used to automate data collection, analysis, and visualization.

You will

Provide expertise in compiling, arranging, storing, and retrieving information to facilitate support of the FAA customer, project, or program.

Designs, tests, and implements new large-scale wired and wireless LAN and WAN networks and applications.

Troubleshoots existing IT solutions and wired and wireless network problem areas.

Helps to establish and coordinate network policy, procedures, and standards.

Administer, evaluate, install, maintain, and provide overall support for wired and wireless LANs and WANs.

Provides Graphic User Interface (GUI) access to many databases, using the latest access tools, such as Java, CORBA, C++, etc.

Design, test, and implement interface programs, develop security procedures, and regulate usage.

Performs planning, cost analysis, and all aspects of large-scale projects.


HOW A SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Provide technical expertise to identify hardware and software needed to provide local wired and/or wireless data comm connectivity at an airport and define the requirements for large telecommunications providers like Verizon and ATT to provide connectivity from these remote airports to ACY.   

Monitor the performance of the LANs and WANs the program uses to identify and address performance problems.

Troubleshoot network problems.  

Supports developing and maintaining GUI access to the program's data files and databases.

Designs, tests, and implements interface programs; develops security procedures and regulates usage of the program wired and wireless LANs and WANs.

Coordinates network policy, procedures, and standards.

Assists with training the use of the program wired and wireless LANs and WANs


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related information technology field - preferred.  NOTE: 5 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree. Master's Degree, MBA, or PhD in a related field may be substituted for bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience.

Required Experience: 6+ years of related experience

Required Technical Skills: Demonstrated capabilities in the following areas – network configuration, troubleshooting, and security protocols. 

Security Clearance Level: None. Must be able to complete Agency-specific Suitability background check.

Required Skills and Abilities: self-starter, continuous learner, highly collaborative

Preferred Skills: Higher degrees are desirable, along with certification in programs such as COMPITA and AWS.

Location: On-site at customer site in Southern New Jersey

Must have a valid US Driver’s License and Passport

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
