IT PROGRAM MANAGER (PLCYPLN/CUSTSPT)
Summary This position for The Defense Information Systems Agency is at Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia . Responsibilities Serves as Deputy, Operations Chief of SDC responsible for synchronizing operational and programmatic efforts with mission partners to provide reliable and resilient communications and logistical support services. Supports the 24-hour-per-day, 7-day-per-week Global C4I operational mission of SDC. Provides technical support and guidance to staffs relating to management issues that often extend and apply across major components of an organization. The incumbent maintains extensive knowledge of the information systems, networks, services and requirements necessary to support the SDC worldwide mission. Reviews, analyzes, and actions orders, directives, and Authorized Service Interruption reports issued by Department of Defense, DISA, National Security Agency and other government agencies that impacts to the operational readiness of SDC. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. OR Attention to Detail - experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service - developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication - briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions. AND Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Administering complex tasks and leading initiatives, proficiency in computer networking concepts, processes, and modernization of office automation system/support. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. A one year probationary or trial period may be required. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement. This position requires the incumbent to work an alternative or shift work schedule. This is a Mission Essential position. This position requires the incumbent to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States. A three-year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
