Additional Information:This role is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA-based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite at least three days per week and for departments to provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

Project Managers provide key leadership to our technology projects in support of Harvard Business School’s (HBS’s) mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for leading cross-functional project teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of software products that enhance the teaching and learning experience at HBS. Responsible for the successful completion of these projects, they are an exceptional relationship manager and problem solver working in close collaboration with project teams to ensure project goals are met on time and on budget. Under direct supervision, the Project Manager focuses on smaller projects or straightforward phase(s) of a larger project while acquiring skills in an Agile environment. The Project Manager initiates, plans, executes, controls, and closes with guidance while functioning to coordinate workflow and support leadership goals.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic agile project leader who is comfortable working with a team as well as independently. They excel at navigating complex challenges with a proactive solution-focused mindset and a positive, “can do” approach. The ideal candidate will have advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead discussions and foster open, trusting dialogue with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead small software development and integration projects in an Agile and Waterfall environment
+ Manage and deliver project results predictably: on time, on budget, and on quality
+ Maintain a deep understanding of the scope of work and manage the project schedule; articulate how decisions may impact the schedule accordingly
+ Estimates projects using established methods to arrive at realistic schedules
+ Provides regular project progress measures and status reporting
+ Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and key decisions, working across a complex organization to drive resolution
+ Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices and tools ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery of IT Portfolio and Project Management run projects
+ Complete other responsibilities as assigned
