Schedule: Monday - Friday | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm | Hybrid (On-site Tuesdays & Thursdays)

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead IT SAP projects within our Client’s Refinery, Operations & HEP space. This role requires close collaboration with internal IT teams, refinery subject matter experts, business partners, and external vendors. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for defining project scope, setting timelines, tracking deliverables, managing risks, and ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders.

This position demands a financially savvy leader who can oversee project budgets up to $1MM, with strong forecasting and reporting capabilities. Candidates must be able to work independently, understand the full project lifecycle, and hold teams accountable to project expectations.

Key Responsibilities include:

Project Management

Manage project scope, requirements, timelines, costs, quality, human resources, communications, and integration. Track and manage project budgets, ensuring financial health and alignment with forecasts. Prepare regular project reports and dashboards for leadership review. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Own risk and issue management, developing clear mitigation plans. Lead regular project status meetings and executive updates. Maintain document control, ensuring project records are properly structured and up to date. Manage outsourced/off-site vendor teams and coordinate their deliverables. Build and maintain a project repository for all documentation and artifacts. Provide process guidance and oversight to project teams. Drive strategic decision-making sessions and document follow-up actions. Financial Management Own the financial oversight of assigned projects, ensuring all costs are tracked, reported, and forecasted accurately. Leverage SAP, BPC, Power BI, and other tools to manage budgets and generate reports. Proactively identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate with finance teams to align project financials with overall business reporting needs. Required Education, Experience, & Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; OR at least 12 years of experience in an IT project management role. Project Management Certification (PMP or equivalent) required. 10-15 years of project management experience, preferably in SAP IT projects within refineries or petrochemical plants. Proven experience managing large-scale SAP ECC projects across functional workstreams (PM, MM, IM, P2P, FI, CO). Hands-on experience managing project budgets up to $1MM, with a strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes. Familiarity with project financial management tools (SAP, BPC, Power BI). Experience managing projects involving multiple system integrators. Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to hold teams accountable and challenge where necessary. Strong command of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid approaches). Experience leading EAM/mobile device implementations and/or business process re-engineering projects. Ability to work independently and manage the full project lifecycle. Soft Skills (Critical for Success) Strong leadership and the ability to influence teams across departments. Exceptional communication, both written and verbal. Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail. Team player who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Experience with digital transformation projects or cybersecurity initiatives. Direct experience in the oil & gas or petrochemical industry is highly preferred. SAP implementation experience within a refinery setting.
