We are currently looking for an IT Security Administrator, I in our Lexington Park, Maryland location!
Job Title: IT Security Administrator
Location: Lexington Park, MD (KBR Government Services HQ)
Shift: 4:00 pm - 12:00 am or 12:00 am - 8:00 am (Shift Schedule)
Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with eligibility to acquire U.S. Government clearance
The IT Security Administrator plays a crucial role in assisting the development, implementation, and monitoring of security controls designed to safeguard the organization’s technology infrastructure. This role is focused on preventing unauthorized modifications, disclosures, or destruction of data and technology systems, ensuring secure operating systems, networks, and databases. The successful candidate will support the detection, identification, and reporting of cyber threats, anomalous activities, and misuse incidents.
This position involves assisting with the analysis of risk audits, planning for security backups, and performing event and incident correlation based on data from various sources. The IT Security Administrator will work within a moderate supervision framework, applying standard procedures while managing routine tasks and deviations where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of secure operating systems, networks, and databases.
Support the development and monitoring of security controls to protect organizational assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction.
Assist in detecting, identifying, and reporting potential cyber-attacks or intrusions, as well as any anomalous or suspicious activities.
Contribute to security event and incident correlation efforts using information gathered from diverse sources.
Participate in conducting risk audits and help with the planning and implementation of security backup protocols.
Provide support for ongoing security monitoring and response efforts.
Ensure adherence to industry-standard procedures and tools while addressing security incidents in a timely manner.
Communicate security-related information clearly and effectively, requiring occasional explanation or interpretation.
Contribute to the identification of security risks and help suggest remediation steps.
Education and Experience:Required: High School Diploma and at least 2 years of related experience in IT security.
Equivalent combination of relevant training and work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
Physical Security Requirements:The candidate must be physically present at KBR Government Services HQ located in Lexington Park, MD.
The position requires availability to respond to physical security alerts during shift hours (4:00 pm - 12:00 am or 12:00 am - 8:00 am).
The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with no issues obtaining U.S. Government clearance.
Skills and Qualifications:Working knowledge of IT security procedures, tools, and technologies, gained through formal training or hands-on experience.
Ability to apply standard procedures and guidelines to assess and address security concerns.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify security issues and incidents.
Effective communication skills to convey information requiring explanation or interpretation.
Proficiency in conducting risk audits and contributing to security backup planning.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with moderate supervision.
