Summary This position is located in Product Delivery Service (PDS), Office of Information and Technology (OI&T). The incumbent in this position serves as a IT Specialist assigned in the Health Infrastructure and Systems Management (HISM) within the Office of Product Delivery Service (PDS), Office of Information and Technology (OIT). Responsibilities OIT Mission: The mission of the Office of Information and Technology (OIT) is to collaborate with our business partners to create the best experience for all Veterans. OIT Vision: To become a world-class organization that provides a seamless, unified Veteran experience through the delivery of state-of-the-art technology. Major Duties include but are not limited to the following: Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and configuration changes in accordance with approved change order policies within the region as it relates to business systems technology which includes VistA hardware, operating systems, and databases. Utilize experience, discretion, judgment and knowledge in the planning, execution, operation and maintenance of business systems technology. Create and maintain documentation on business systems technology to include configuration standards, as-built diagrams and historical and trending information. Provide support to stakeholders on an as needed basis relevant to business systems activities and related technologies. Reviews directives, policies, programs, enterprise-wide functional user requirements and acquisition strategies/vehicles for program related issues to determine the impact and implications in supporting information systems. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00AM-4:30 PM Compressed/Flexible: As determined by the Agency Policy Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. This position may require extended hours to meet project and/or deadlines and to devise corrective actions and solutions to unexpected contract issues. Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office setting. The incumbent may be expected to work beyond normal duty hours when required by pending issues. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The responsibilities of the position require travel and may subject the incumbent to various resultant environment changes. May require occasional travel. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. For the GS-13 position you must have served 52 at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. AND Specialized Experience: The incumbent serves as an Senior Information Technology (IT) Analyst for the Health Systems with duties Division associated with one or more IT specialty areas in support of the Division. He/she is responsible for the full range of duties which includes providing technical assistance relatively to health, software and business application support as well as business focused services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
