**Job Family** **:** Database Administration (Digital) **Travel Required** **:** None **Clearance Required** **:** Ability to Obtain Public Trust **What You Will Do** **:** We are currently searching for an IT Specialist. This role will provide services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This role is a full-time opportunity located in Bethesda, MD. + Maintain the LoBoS cluster in good working order and maintain physical LoBoS cluster spaces (currently two). + Install and/or troubleshoot the following: Linux operating system and Hardware, including desktops and servers. + Work with NIH staff in maintaining LoBoS’s Authority to Operate (ATO). + Perform patching of systems to address known vulnerabilities. + Monitor system security and identify anomalies to be researched/addressed. + Provision and monitor network storage systems. + Provide user support including installation on desktops as well as cluster wide. + Assist in technology tracking for the purposes of upgrading the LoBoS cluster to continue to support scientific workflows needed by the Lab. + Assist in managing the given budget for the maintenance and upgrading of LoBoS. **What You Will Need** **:** + Bachelor’s Degree + A minimum of SIX (6) years of experience in in Linux System Administration and/or High-Performance Computing (HPC). + Proven network troubleshooting skills. + Familiarity with one or more scripting languages. + Strong communications skills, both oral and written. + Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. **What Would Be Nice To Have** **:** + Master’s Degree preferred. + Red Hat Certification preferred. + Preferred additional experience in the following: LDAP, MPI, Virtualization and Containers, and/or Batch queuing systems such as Slurm. + Previous experience with NIH preferred. The annual salary range for this position is $115,200.00-$172,800.00.
