About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for planning and managing the design and sustainment of computer applications for Information Management Directorate, Automated Transportation Systems Division, G6 Information Mission Area (IMA) within the US Army Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Headquarters. Responsibilities Oversees and participates in the design of detailed system and program specifications to address output formats, system, subsystem or program functions, decision logic/rules, system security and operating mode. Determines, develops and incorporates detailed logic changes to systems and subsystems to improve program efficiency or deliver enhanced capabilities. Executes all Quality Assurance guidelines governing software development, testing and implementation. Conducts or participates in system acceptability testing and implementation. Makes software changes requiring major variations in end user requirements. Reviews current systems, subsystems or programs to identify and effect required software changes. Specialized Experience for GS12: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Overseeing (i.e., design, development, coordination with other developers) Information Technology (IT) software development for a large directorate/organization; 2) Providing technical guidance to other programmers/team members on software program structures to improve design techniques and approaches; and 3) Analyzing IT software program specifications to ensure life-cycle management and system reliability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
