Summary You will serve as a Information Technology Specialist in the Information Technology Department of SUPSHIP GULF COAST. Responsibilities You will serve as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for all matters pertaining to the protection and certification of SSGC Automated Information Systems (AIS). You will assist the ISSM in administrating the command Information Assurance (IA) program. You will oversee vulnerability patching efforts for compliance reporting. You will provide guidance on revising and maintaining policy, procedure and instructional documents related to IA within the Command. You will act as ISSO signatory authority on user authorization forms. You will assist with the preparation of IA certification and accreditation documents. You will work with IT Technical support personnel in investigating network or workstation related intrusion attempts and device alerts. You will interpret patterns of non-compliance of vulnerability thresholds and their impact on the overall risk assessment of the IA program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the pay band NH-02 (GS-11) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: coordinating Cybersecurity or Information Assurance (IA) operations to identify, report and prevent information system vulnerabilities. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Planning and carrying out IT assignments to ensure operational security and systems/network compliance in accordance with security/information assurance principles and practices. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Working with customers to determine requirements or problems; evaluating IT systems to recommend security enhancements to protect customers information assets. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Participating in work groups or serving on committees concerning cybersecurity efforts; providing advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies or procedures to customers or management. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying or isolating IT system security problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions. Education Additional Information This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-03 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. This position has a control point; thus the salary range may be capped at GS-13, step 05, which is equivalent to $119,435. If you're current salary is above this amount, your salary may be matched. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement.
