Summary This vacancy is for an IT Specialist (Network) position in the Telecommunications Office located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist (Network), 2210-14, FPL GS-14, positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Responsibilities Serves as an expert technical authority in the deployment, configuration, integration, maintenance, and support of mobile devices (iOS and Android), the Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution, and the mobile infrastructure. Develops system requirements, configuration documentation, drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs), contributing to the improvement of system guidelines, standards, and policies. Troubleshoots and resolves customer reported problems and issues pertaining to mobile devices and the Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. Prepares and presents oral and written project documentation and technical presentations to project stakeholders. Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Designing, implementing, managing, maintaining, and supporting mobile devices, mobile device management (MDM) solution(s), and the mobile environment across an organization with multiple locations. Ensuring security compliance, providing technical support of mobile devices to end-users as well as providing daily end user support. Defining, analyzing, drafting, establishing, and maintaining security protocol and compliance requirements, standards, plans, and governance models for mobile devices and its environment. Providing Help Desk support, excellent problem-solving abilities, and oral and written communication skills are essential.In addition to the above specialized experience, your resume must demonstrate one year of Information Technology (IT) related experience in the federal service, private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information If hired for this position with the Census Bureau, at its headquarters office located in Suitland, Maryland, you will be expected to temporarily telework to maximum extent while the headquarters building is being renovated. Once renovations are completed for your area, you will be notified when to return to the office. At that time, you will be expected to work from your duty station, and you may be eligible to telework, up to 8 days a pay period depending on your respective work schedule, with approval from your supervisor.
