About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees. Responsibilities Responsible for providing Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity and monitoring network capacity and performance on a military installation. Responsible for planning, implementation, and administration of network systems, and system and server maintenance operations. Implement new network system hardware and software and develops operating procedures. Serve as Local Area Network (LAN) and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) administrator for a complex network infrastructure that supplies communications for a military installation and its tenants. Analyses of networking products and defining important characteristics in support of the acquisition of major networking components. Basic Requirement for IT Specialist (Network Services): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes managing operations, modifications, upgrades, and services for the installation network; initiating corrective actions plans to improve and accomplish network requirements; maintaining network communication systems; install and configure operating system software; provide recommendations to telecommunications processors and resolve equipment issue. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
