Summary Salary Ranges are the following unless statutory/regulatory rates prevail. For the Redstone Arsenal, AL Location: $92,293 to $142,676 (includes 21.91% locality) For the Schriever AFB, CO Location: $90,961 to $140,616 (includes 20.15% locality) This position is part of the Department of Defense, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The incumbent will be responsible for serving as an IT Specialist specializing in network services and operating systems; performing various assignments. For more information please see: ACQDEMO As a IT Specialist (Network Services/Operating Systems) at the NH-2210-3 broadband level some of your typical work assignments may include: Serving as an IT Specialist specializing in network services and operating systems. Performing various assignments, both one time and continuing, related to different aspects of the MDA Information Technology (IT)/IM enterprise networks and systems. Analyzing, identifying, and recommending efficiencies in wide area network infrastructure management. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and interacting with functional users throughout the Agency to identify specific and unique user requirements for wide area network access and specified IT services. Conducting surveys and studies to determine computer hardware, software, telecommunications, and network requirements to address current and future IT needs. Making recommendations to the supervisor or higher level specialist. Conducting technical analyses of systems to determine the nature of requirements, logical work and information flows, and whether advancements in IT are feasible and should be incorporated. Analyzing the varied applications, systems, communications, and cybersecurity requirements to be supported. Identifying conflicts between Agency enterprise standards and the requirements, and recommends solutions to overcome obstacles. Integrating information technology, transport, systems, and external communications connectivity within physical facilities and infrastructure projects. Collaborating with civil engineering groups to formulate and implement IT requirements within existing or new Agency facilities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the NH-03 broadband level if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Applicants are required to meet 2 of 3 statements in order to be qualified. Identifying, analyzing, specifying, designing, and managing functional and network infrastructure requirements of information technology/information management principles, concepts, and methods. Experience with the architecture and topology of software, hardware, and networks including Local Area Networks (LANs); Wide Area Networks (WANs); telecommunications systems, their components, and associated protocols and standards; and how they operate and integrate with one another and with associated controlling software. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and interfacing with multiple individuals from diverse organizations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
