Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T6361000 and is part of the FL HQ 101 AOG, National Guard. Responsibilities As an IT Specialist (NETWORK), GS-2210-12, you will Manages AOG Tactical Data Link (TDL) and Command and Control (C2) systems, including configuring and installing servers, workstations, HF and UHF radios and peripheral equipment, satellite communications devices to maintain operations. Conducts testing of operability and integration of TDL and Network functions, resolving complex hardware, software, and compatibility problems. Updates policy and procedures related to C2, Network and TDL systems. Responsible for ensuring the correct configuration of network devices. Develops methods and procedures and coordinates corrective action to optimize network performance. Researches, tests and evaluates software packages which provide performance measurements of the WAN. Develops the standard configuration software loads for all network devices. Develops benchmarks and performance measurements and evaluation data to manage network servers and data communication devices to support normal and surge workload. Works with technical support personnel in resolving critical problems. Uses remote management software tools to maintain and update configuration, protocol and user/system files. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to current on-board (Tenure 1, 2 and 3) US Federal employees interested in helping the Department of the AirForce meet our mission requirements as an IT Specialist (NETWORK) PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. Recruitment / Relocation: Incentive MAY be authorized. ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. NOTE: 1. This position is categorized as IAT Level II IAW DOD 8570.01. Selectee must obtain required formal training within 6 months of hire date. 2. This position requires a TOP SECRET security clearance; Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process; experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE- GS12: Must have at least one year of specialized experiences at the GS-11 level or the equivalent which provides knowledge and/or experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
