This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Middleware Division. As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) (IT Specialist - File Transfer), you will provide 24-hour technical support for all systems and services to support the Fiscal Service enterprise File Transfer infrastructures. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Provide 24-hour technical support for all systems and services to support the Fiscal Service enterprise File Transfer infrastructures. Perform the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software supporting the enterprise File Transfer service provided within Fiscal Services data centers and secure areas. Perform incident and problem management associated with the enterprise File Transfer infrastructure hosted within Fiscal Service data centers and secure areas. Requirements Conditions of Employment A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years. Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel. This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: performing IT work that involves the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and/or management of IT systems or environments in support of the organizations technical and/or business needs. Examples of such experience for the GS-12 level could include: - Experience as a system administrator for general system support solutions or tools. OR - Experience as a systems administrator responsible for supporting technical solutions that support business needs, such as designing, implementing and supporting data and file transfers in a multitier architecture. OR - Project experience with IT systems with a variety of operating systems, file transfer protocols, and administrative tools; OR - Experience in facilitating formal and informal meetings involving IT presentations to decision makers. OR - Experience participating in technical planning, product evaluation, and report development. AND In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below: - Attention to Detail, such as performing the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software. - Customer Service, such as ensuring systems are of optimal use for the customer. - Oral Communication, such as preparing and presenting reports to personnel regarding complex technical concepts. - Problem Solving, such as participating in areas such as incident/problem resolution, project planning and implementations. For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: performing IT work assisting with the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, and/or management of IT systems or environments in support of the organizations IT technical and/or business needs. Examples of this experience could include: - Serving as a member of a IT project team or part of a regular team designing, developing, or implementing a new business process or IT system ; OR - Working on a team involved with defining requirements and testing IT systems; OR - Assisting with reviewing and providing input to address IT audit or security assessment findings. AND In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must have IT-related proficiency in each of the four competencies listed below: - Attention to Detail, such as assisting with the installation, testing, maintenance, and upgrading of equipment and software. - Customer Service, such as serving as a technical point-of-contact for customers. - Oral Communication, such as communicating with personnel on job related matters, both orally and in writing. - Problem Solving, such as evaluating incidents or problems and providing corrective actions. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.
