Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as an Information Technology (IT) System Administrator for the Center for Army Analysis performing daily operations for the tier III desktop, systems and customer support for IT systems and users. Responsibilities Oversee the installation and configuration of networked systems, ensuring efficient operation through upgrades and adjustments to system components. Monitor networked systems to ensure proper functioning of hardware and software while meeting operational goals and standards. Administer technical instruction and cross-training to support personnel, enhancing their systems administration skills for sustained operations across all supported systems and services. Advise on standard operating procedures, software, and controls to enhance security measures. Lead network operating system and application software projects, ensuring the effective utilization of current software product releases. Advance comprehensive policies and procedures for network systems, operational processes, and product assembly and installation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and basic requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Experience Requirement: IT-related experience detailed in my resume including each of the four competencies listed below. (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes administering a Windows networked environment effectively; implementing security patches and various security software applications to enhance Cyber Defense best practices; leading IT teams to implement solutions to resolve existing problems and monitor network systems to ensure optimal hardware and software performance; collaborating with external individuals to seek and implement solutions to IT issues as part of a team; develop policies and procedures for networks, system operations, and product assembly and installation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
