Summary About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army 1st IO, Fort Belvoir, VA. Responsibilities Ensures the operations and maintenance of unit Information Technology (IT) equipment. This work involves the planning, coordinating, installation, configuration, testing, implementation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems in support of the organization's IT architecture and business needs. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware and operating systems and applications software to minimize operational impact. Develops and documents systems administration standard operating procedures. Manages the installation and integration of systems fixes and updates, and application of information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services. Monitors the work of other systems administrators to ensure work is completed to standard. Manages section's tasks and priorities to military and contractor team members and reports status, i.e., accomplishments, training needs and work processes during weekly meetings and planning sessions to support section operations Manage assigned government property to ensure accountability IAW Army Command Supply Discipline program. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe 1 year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by: ensuring the accountability, operations, and maintenance of unit Information Technology (IT) equipment; experience with the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates, and application of information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices; creating systems administration standard operating procedures; manages section's tasks and priorities of military, contractor systems administrator team members; reporting status of tasks and projects during weekly meetings and planning sessions to support section operations; ensuring IT work tasks are completed to Army regulatory standards. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information If you are a current federal career/career-conditional employee, you will be placed on an excepted appointment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. TDY is up to 25% of the position's time. In accordance with Chapter 3, AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Must maintain compliance with DoD 8570.01-M as a designated Information Assurance Technician (IAT) III, in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M and Software Developer (DoD Cyber Workforce Framework work role ID: 451), Office of Personnel Management Administrative Work in the Information Technology Group, 2200. Incumbent (or Selectee) is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoDM 8140.03 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program dated 15 February 2023.
