IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (TITLE 32)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2489000 (Amendment 1) and is part of the NC 130th MEB, National Guard (HQ 130th MEB / MD: 2640-60). Responsibilities As a IT SPECIALIST (SYS ADMIN), GS-2210-11, This position is located at the Major Subordinate Command (MSC) under the direction of the office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO/G6/J6), National Guard JFHQ-State organization. This is a National Guard Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. The purpose of this position is to execute administrative maintenance and software updates to Major Subordinate Command (MSC) Mission Command Systems that enable and support Command and Control (C2) during military training and missions. You will manages all assigned Mission Command Systems, analyzing and defining requirements; analyzing workload; diagnosing and resolving problems; and developing backup and recovery procedures; install, configure, and maintain systems and system resources in support of business processing requirements and ensures that systems are tested for stability; install and upgrade operating systems and layered software packages, ensuring compatibility with Army standards prior to installation of upgrade or new release, develop and maintain database of hardware and software configurations, conduct hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with Army and DOD standards and maintains system configurations, monitor and manage the performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability of installed systems and associated system resources.; implement security procedures and tools, resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems, and ensures system functionality, integrity, and efficiency; resolve inquiries and problems concerning access, use, and availability of datacenter technologies; provide technical assistance to current and potential users to minimize disruptions of computer operations; provide formal or informal training so users understand the relationships of the system and are able to work with the system without undue interruption; test and analyze system malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems; analyze, evaluate, and resolve malfunctions by adjusting equipment configurations, realigning port allocations, recommending appropriate acquisitions, and distinguishing between equipment, software, and operation problems, assist in solving problems associated with deliveries in support of individual hardware or software orders; document program purposes, methods, assumptions, and conclusions; lead or participate in on-site surveys and/or reviews program information to determine status of the function and adequacy and quality of services, document findings and ensures recommendations are relevant to actual operating environments, direct preparation or prepares a variety of program reports; maintain liaison with counterparts at other commands/installations for troubleshooting assistance and researching available products and state-of-the-art technologies and advancements; develop strategies to incorporate into the organization's inventory such technologies and advancements found to be compatible with user requirements, taking into consideration any affect these technologies and techniques will have on existing architecture and infrastructure; perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted (E4 to E7), Warrant Officer (WO1 to CW4), Officer (CPT to MAJ) Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. Specialized Experience: (Must have at least 36 months) of experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Education You must provide transcripts documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
