This position is located in the Data Center Operations Unit. Req. 204852 This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee. The OTS Network Communication Services team will use this IT Statewide Engineer 3 position to support ongoing operation of the complex multi-agency networks under OTS's responsibility. This position is one of a team that supports all consolidated agency networks at 1200+ users sites statewide, providing the infrastructure that facilitates all other IT services. This group has full architectural and operational responsibility for the OTS statewide network and engages vendors and other OTS sections as needed for the installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of all network equipment and services at these agency locations and at regional network hub sites. This position, working closely with NCS staff in Baton Rouge, is responsible for planning and implementing new network initiatives and for maintaining existing network infrastructure in the Southeast portion of the State. A network technician with adequate knowledge and skills is required to efficiently handle all trouble reports, new service requests, and projects for that area. This vacancy participates in a career progression group and may be filled from this recruitment as a IT Statewide Engineer 1 (TS-314), IT Statewide Engineer 2 (TS-315) or IT Statewide Engineer 3 (TS-316) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. The maximum salary for the IT Statewide Engineer 3 is $ 117,998 . Serves as a technical lead for a statewide information technology infrastructure system by performing moderately complex tasks such as database tuning and management, forecasting capacity, planning expansions, designing layer 2 components for site/backbone/data centers, leading site conversion projects, etc. Perform advanced system/equipment maintenance upgrades such as new major versions and data migrations. Provides Tier 3 help desk support; may also provide Tier 2 help desk support when needed and/or oversee the work of lower-level IT personnel engaged in infrastructure support activities. Perform advanced troubleshooting, such as resolving interoperability issues between systems. May also resolve intermediate issues when needed. Provides moderately complex system configurations. Records and generates usage reports for customer invoicing.
