Duties and Responsibilities:

Detailed understanding of reading and interpreting Net cracker orders, engineering designs, switch translations, IP network diagrams, technical schematics and the provisioning test turn-up procedures Configure Ethernet ports, modules and slots to turn-up Atrica and Cisco equipment including ring insertions Responsible for interfacing with ILEC & CLEC to coordinate testing on type II’s. Schedule ports between Optimum Lightpath and end users Test with installation field technicians to verify continuity of new orders prior to completion Strong understanding of OSI model (specifically layers 1, 2 & 3) to help configure routers, IAD devices, RAD IP Muxes, NIDs etc Maintain IP records and correspondence with IP Diamond to track and support IP address usage Responsible for provisioning, formatting and coding functionality of Lucent DACS IV & DACS II, Telabs Titan, Cisco Fibex, Next Level USAM, & BDT, Cisco 3400, Atrica 2140, Zhone for T3, T1 & DS0 Strong understanding of test equipment to test DS0, T-1, T-3s, Sonet , MPLS, Ethernet  Responsible for mentoring lower Salary Grade technicians by training them on equipment and knowledge needed to perform the job Responsible for high level technical projects and well as keeping management informed of status on critical projects or installations
