Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

OVERVIEW OF THE AGENCY AND THE POSITION

The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission is an independent agency that oversees law enforcement departments and officers throughout the Commonwealth. The Commission is charged with the following:

Establishing certification standards for law enforcement departments and officers; Determining whether those standards have been met; Developing regulations and policies governing law enforcement; Decertifying, suspending, or ordering retraining for officers who commit misconduct or otherwise fail to satisfy requirements; Maintaining, analyzing, and disseminating information regarding law enforcement; and Conducting investigations, adjudicatory proceedings, and public hearings regarding such matters.

The Commission is governed by, and enforces, Chapter 6E of the Massachusetts General Laws. Pursuant to that statute, the Commission collaborates with the Commonwealth’s Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in several areas of its work.

The Commission is looking for an individual to join the Technology Division as an IT Systems Specialist.

POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Role:

As an IT Systems Specialist, you will work with the POST Commission Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the technology team in a broad range of tasks to help foster a positive, modern digital experience, and enable timely delivery of critical technology. Responsibilities:

Act as a liaison between members of IT, user community, and vendors; Manage support tickets from internal and external users; Identify and help resolve data issues including data cleansing; Investigate the cause of and resolve issues reported; Work alongside project managers, consultants, and technical leads, and support the rest of the company on cross-functional team issues; Help create and deliver application related trainings; Assist with deployments, integrations, upgrades and maintenance of hardware and software systems; Play a leading role in the documentation of internal processes and policies; Interact via written, verbal and in person communication with vendors as well as co-workers; Over time, become a SME on an ever-expanding catalog of SAAS apps including Office 365, CRM, Business Intelligence, and database systems; and Willingness to assist with any project.
