**Job Description:**
Illinois Tool Works (ITW) is a Fortune 200 company that produces diversified products in global markets. Some of its products include welding equipment, automotive components, construction materials and commercial food equipment. The Food Equipment Group is one of seven ITW decentralized business segments. The Warewash and Waste Division of ITW’s Food Equipment Group, is seeking a Plant Manager for our Troy, Ohio production site. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this in-office position will work on site in Troy, OH, which is about 20 minutes north of Dayton.
The Warewash and Waste Division produces Hobart, Stero, and Somat brand commercial dishwashers and waste equipment for use in hotels, casinos, restaurants, health care, cruise ships, schools and universities and retail. The Troy production site is a single-shift operation producing Hobart brand commercial dishwashers. We are seeking a Plant Manager with experience leading manufacturing activities to support organizational growth.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and coordinating the daily activities at the unionized manufacturing location to obtain optimum efficiency, quality, and cost. This position will lead all aspects of the plant operations including but not limited to workforce management, materials procurement and inventory management, engineering, quality support, and day to day logistics.
The individual will work closely with Engineering, Human Resources, Accounting, and Strategic Sourcing, as well as division-level Marketing, Sales and Engineering. The candidate will be responsible for oversight of safety and environmental activities at the plant, executing major plant projects to support growth plans, forecasting production needs, understanding P&L financial statements, preparing annual budgets, participating in division long-range planning as well as supervising and developing a team of managers. Cost reduction activities for both operations and materials, performance management and talent development are other key responsibilities for this role. Additionally, the individual must be able to work with the local union by participating in meetings and contract negotiations.
We seek candidates with excellent leadership, negotiation, decision-making and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate should also possess solid knowledge of lean manufacturing, metal fabrication and welding, assembly, Kanban, and 5-S. Experience building positive relationships and working with unions is a plus. The individual must work well with peers and have the ability to build collaborative professional relationships.
The minimum qualifications are:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
+ P&L financial understanding
+ 8+ years of operations experience
+ Customer focus
+ MS Office application proficiency
+ Effective communication and presentation skills
Preferred qualifications include understanding the ITW toolbox and/or other lean manufacturing tools, and technical knowledge of Warewash products.
