The Registered Nurse – IV Therapy provides and supervises intravenous nursing care to patients of all ages and serves as a resource for IV-related problems or procedures within the institution. The Registered Nurse is skilled and knowledgeable in a wide range of IV therapy services, general nursing skills, and skills specific to IV Therapy.
Position Details:
Location: Jamaica Plain, MA Duration: 13 weeks to start, with the likelihood of extension Facility Type: Hospital Openings: All shifts (includes every other weekend) Start Date: TBD Salary: Local – $70-$75/hr & Travel – $3,500+ gross/week Requirements: MUST have 2+ years of hospital experienceDuties and Responsibilities (general summary):
Provide nursing care for patients by following professional, hospital, departmental, and certification standards to maintain quality care. Identify and address patient needs by performing nursing assessments, developing nursing interventions, and participating in team meetings to facilitate discharge. Supervise staff through individual counseling and/or regular staff meetings, appropriate role modeling, and overseeing the orientation process. Participate in the progressive disciplinary process as required. Receive and deliver hospital-wide reports on patient status and administrative concerns to provide continuity of care. Oversee professional and para-professional staffing coverage based on staffing resources and patient needs, maintaining records to ensure optimal care delivery. Provide ongoing supervision of nursing staff to serve as a positive role model. Make frequent rounds of hospital units to assess patient status, staff performance, and physical environment to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Participate in and respond to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment. Exercise independent judgment and make decisions based on knowledge of general principles of psychiatric nursing. Investigate and complete patient and/or staff accident/injury reports, complaints, and incident reports, incorporating all appropriate actions. Provide psychosocial support to patients through individual counseling and group work to maintain the therapeutic milieu. Facilitate the implementation of treatment plans by the interdisciplinary team by conferring with appropriate healthcare professionals to meet the stated goal for each patient. Supervise employees of a lesser grade by assigning tasks based on individual competencies, evaluating performance, and making recommendations concerning performance to maintain a high level of quality care. Ensure compliance with established standards for and quality of documentation systems, including patient records, patient care plans, and restraint forms, ensuring that all nursing policies and procedures are carried out consistently. Maintain and communicate to nursing staff knowledge of DMH, CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA standards to maintain standards of care. Practice principles of CARE, including controlled takedown and restraint/seclusion when necessary to provide a safe environment. Actively participate in the Improved Organizational Performance process at the unit and hospital-wide level to improve the quality of care. Perform other related duties as required.Required Qualifications:
Demonstrates expertise in patient care and assignment Knowledge of interviewing techniques Experience with The Joint Commission, DMH, DPH, CMS requirements for healthcare and administration Ability to evaluate nursing practices Experience with the principles and practices of supervision Knowledge of healthcare administrationPreferred Qualifications:
